Trim & Finish Material

Trim and Moulding profiles

Burton Lumber offers both Standard and Specialty Trim & Finish Materials. We provide these products in many varieties; from standard profiles to custom and specialty profiles. Our trim products will add those finishing touches that enhance and showcase your home or office.

What is Standard Trim Material?

Standard Trim comes in both Finger Joint Pine (FJ) and Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF).

Finger-Joint Material;
Finger-Joint (FJ) Pine consists of small pieces of wood that are recycled and jointed together to create lengths for door-casings and 16’ or 17’ lengths for crowns, base and chair rails. This allows for ease of installation and less installation joints, typical of solid woods. The advantages to FJ Pine mouldings are the definition of detail, much sharper than MDF, the work-ability, nailing ease and personal preference for wood.

MDF Trim Material;
Medium Density fiberboard (MDF) is an Engineered Wood product. Engineered Wood products are natural, organic, recyclable, and renewable. By choosing MDF, you support the recovery and recycling of millions of tons of wood chips, shavings, sawdust, and more. MDF is designed with superior attributes not found in solid wood.

What is Specialty or Custom Trim Material?

Specialty or Custom Trim Materials are standard or special profiles in your choice of custom wood species. Some of these choices are; red oak, poplar (paint grade), alder, knotty alder, maple and cherry. If you want another species of wood, it can be run in the profile you want, usually within a weeks time. You choose the profile, and the wood species, and we deliver!
